The following years are ones of patient growth. In 1992, 14 rooms are added to the property. In 1994, a terrace bar opens. In 1999, Bistro L’Entracte and a second meeting room join the mix.
Every addition is deliberate. Not expansion for its own sake, but a response to the real needs of guests who keep coming back. Because right from the start, people come back.
In 2000, Dany and Josée, the children of Gilles and Ginette, take over. It’s a passing of values as much as a business handover. They inherit a hotel that works, a loyal clientele and a way of doing things that has no manual — it’s passed down through years of watching your parents at work.
Their first major decision: redefine the hotel’s identity. In 2004, Auberge du Voyageur becomes Hôtel du Voyageur. New visual identity, full restaurant, second terrace, two new meeting rooms. The property grows in stature without losing its soul.
In September 2007, exterior renovations give the hotel a new face. The main entrance expands, a lounge with fireplace appears. The corridors, the rooms — everything is rethought to reach a higher level of comfort and design.
In May 2008, the effort is recognized: the property earns its 4-star classification from the CITQ. External validation — but above all, confirmation that the direction Dany and Josée have chosen is the right one.
In 2010, Hôtel du Voyageur becomes Hotel V. A shorter name, a stronger identity — but the V stays true to its origins: the Voyageur.
From the very beginning, the establishment has set out to be a genuine stopover for the traveller: a place designed for those who travel, who discover and who look for attentive hospitality, even far from home.
The rebrand comes with new rooms featuring contemporary design and upgraded amenities. Hotel V establishes itself as a landmark address in Gatineau.
Five years later, Dany and Josée launch their most ambitious project. Twenty-nine new spacious, streamlined rooms. An urban spa with Nordic baths, sauna and lounge areas with fireplace. A new grand room that can hold up to 120 people. A complete restaurant renovation.
From concept to completion, the project spans two years. In 2016, Hotel V as we know it today takes its final form — 88 rooms, a complete offering and the same approach to welcoming guests that has been there from the very beginning.
What doesn’t change is what matters. A stable, dedicated team. Guests who come back. And the conviction that 88 rooms is exactly the right size to remember you.
In 2021, Hotel V begins a new chapter with its acquisition by the Li and Liang family. True to its family spirit, the management of the property is entrusted to two sisters: Christine Cadieux, General Manager, and Joanne Cadieux, Assistant General Manager.
Together, they continue to develop the hotel, building on the values that have shaped its identity while bringing a forward-looking vision to the next chapter.
