The park reinvents itself with every season

Summer — hiking, cycling and beaches

Over 200 km of marked trails for all fitness levels. Mountain biking on technical trails, road cycling on paved parkways. Swimming at Lac Philippe and several other park beaches. A free shuttle runs in the park 6 days a week from May to October — handy for avoiding parking on busy weekends.

Fall — colours and quiet

The hills of the Canadian Shield turn red and gold in October. The trails are less crowded, the parkways still open until the end of the month. One of the most beautiful seasons for walking, without the summer crowds.

Winter — cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and Nordic outdoor activities

A network of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails among the best in the region. Winter access requires a pass — available at the Visitor Centre or in presale starting in October. For the most adventurous, winter camping is offered from mid-December to late March. Spots are limited: book early.

Spring — nature awakens

The parkways reopen in May. Wildlife and plant life are particularly active — ideal for animal watching. Note: avoid muddy trails to avoid damaging them and respect closed trails at the beginning of the season.

The park’s must-sees

  • Champlain Lookout — the park’s most well-known view, overlooking the Ottawa River and surrounding hills

  • Lusk Cave — a cave open to the public, for curious visitors who want to go off the beaten path
