So we&#8217;ve done the editing for you. Here&#8217;s a two-day itinerary built for getting the most out of the region, with Hotel V as your base.<\/p>\n<p>Free parking, urban spa included every evening. All you have to do is choose your pace.<\/p>\n<h4>Before you go: what you need to know<\/h4>\n<p>The Outaouais is easy to explore by car from Gatineau. Most of the attractions in this itinerary are 10 to 20 minutes from Hotel V. The STO transit network also serves several areas if you&#8217;d rather leave the car at the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>A few practical tips before you start:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Book your visits in advance<\/strong> for the Canadian Museum of History and Parliament Hill \u2014 spots fill up fast in high season<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check the program<\/strong> at Maison de la culture before your stay \u2014 some shows sell out weeks in advance<\/li>\n<li><strong>The hotel spa closes at 10 pm<\/strong> \u2014 plan your return accordingly so you can enjoy it each evening<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Day 1: Nature, history and a great meal<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Morning: Gatineau Park<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start with fresh air. Gatineau Park is 15 minutes from the hotel \u2014 361 km\u00b2 of trails, lakes and hills that change character with every season. In summer, hiking and swimming at Lac Philippe. In fall, the colours of the Canadian Shield. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on groomed trails among the best in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Two highlights depending on the season:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Champlain Lookout<\/strong> \u2014 the park&#8217;s most well-known view, overlooking the Ottawa River and surrounding hills. Accessible year-round.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mackenzie King Estate<\/strong> \u2014 historic gardens, ruins and small museums in an enchanting setting. Perfect for a family morning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Allow 2 to 3 hours. On weekdays, the trails are quiet. On weekends, head to the north sectors to avoid the crowds.<\/p>\n<h4>Afternoon:<strong> The Canadian Museum of History<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On your way back to Gatineau, stop at the Canadian Museum of History \u2014 the most visited in Canada, 15 minutes from the hotel. The best investment of the evening, and it costs you nothing extra.<\/p>\n<h4>Day 2: Culture, neighbourhood life and entertainment<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Morning: Maison de la culture and the Promenades area<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start the second day at your own pace. If you caught a show at the Odyss\u00e9e Hall the evening before, perfect \u2014 otherwise, the morning is ideal for wandering around the neighbourhood near the hotel. Maison de la culture de Gatineau is just minutes on foot: exhibitions at the Art-image Centre, visual arts programming, or simply a neighbourhood stroll before the day picks up.<\/p>\n<p>Promenades de l&#8217;Outaouais is also steps away \u2014 handy for those who want to shop or pick up anything for the trip home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Afternoon: Parliament Hill in Ottawa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cross the bridge. Ottawa is 15 minutes away \u2014 leave the car at the hotel and take the STO bus with a connection to OC Transpo. Parliament Hill is Canada&#8217;s most recognizable landmark, and guided tours of the buildings are free.<\/p>\n<p>What we recommend:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The West Block<\/strong> \u2014 free guided tour of the House of Commons, about 45 minutes. The perfect spot for a bite before heading back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Evening: Casino Lac-Leamy<\/h4>\n<p>To close out the weekend in style, Casino Lac-Leamy is 10 minutes from the hotel. It&#8217;s not just a casino \u2014 it&#8217;s a complete entertainment complex with restaurants, bars, a nightclub and the 1,000-seat Casino Theatre.
